Development of new experimental technology for primates

What should we do to understand human brain function and neurological disorders from the results of experimental research on lower animals (e.g. rodents)? We believe it is crucial to confirm them in the nervous system of nonhuman primates. Unfortunately, however, the research tools available in primates are either limited or immature. To address this problem, we are developing research tools for primates that are useful for neuroscience and neurological disease research and aim to discover new findings using them. Currently, research is underway on the selective introduction of foreign genes by AAV vectors (peripheral nerves and whole brain), the induction of nerve activity by transcranial ultrasound irradiation and gene transfer.
