Research and Biography
After graduating from Fujita Medical College in 2007, I joined the Department of Psychiatry at Nagoya City University after completing my clinical training. I have studied cognitive-behavioral therapy since my psychiatry residency, yearning to be a therapist who treats through verbal communication, and later specialized in Prolonged Exposure (PE), one of cognitive-behavioral therapy for PTSD, due to my interest and empathy for the pathology and recovery process of trauma. I became a certified therapist of PE in 2016 and then supervisor of PE in 2021.
I was assigned to Toyokawa Municipal Hospital, a rural general hospital with psychiatry department beds, where I developed a particular desire to help difficult cases recover through trial and error as I tried to somehow improve cases of anorexia nervosa, intractable cases, and cases with casework difficulties. I also saw the lack of resources for treatment of eating disorders, and became aware of the need to improve this type of medical system. Now I believe that one of my lifeworks is to bring treatment to patients who want to receive it but cannot.
As for research, I have mainly conducted research on the effectiveness and prognosis of cognitive-behavioral therapy.I arrived at the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry in April 2021, and in this research department, I am involved in research on the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy of PTSD and brain imaging research on eating disorders, as well as managing the Eating Disorders Core Support Center. We are also conducting treatment research on web-based PE. I would like to promote research that will contribute to patients who have not improved after many years of treatment, patients who have stopped time due to trauma, and patients who have psychiatric symptoms as aftereffects due to a complicated family environment in their childhood.
